Boorowa Irish Woolfest began in the late 1990s as a way to celebrate the region’s world-renowned Merino wool industry and strong rural traditions. What started as a week of wool shows, shearing displays and workshops soon evolved into a vibrant one-day festival that brings the whole community together in the heart of Boorowa.

In 2000, the festival embraced the town’s rich Irish heritage, inspired by Boorowa’s historic connection to Clonoulty in Tipperary, Ireland. Today, Irish Woolfest is a unique blend of wool, culture, music, storytelling and country hospitality, best known for the iconic Running of the Sheep through the main street.

Over the years, Irish Woolfest has welcomed outstanding performers and entertainers from across Australia and beyond, creating a lively festival atmosphere filled with music, dance and celebration.

From Irish dancers and folk performers to choirs, live bands and street entertainment, the festival blends traditional culture with modern country hospitality.

Powered by volunteers, local businesses and community spirit, the festival continues to welcome visitors from across Australia to experience one of regional NSW’s most loved country events.
